Young Artists Exhibition | Barbados

Recently, I was invited to participate in the Young Artists exhibition which ran from August 11- 24, unfortunately I wasn't able to send in new works, but atleast new works are in the making, so atleast there's a silver lining.
This show was put together in response to past and present problems in the art scenes of Barbados. It's easy to drift away, due to things like: a lack of support, opportunities or even a lack of knowledge on how to go about it. I'm pretty sure I'm just a ball of confusion on most occasions, but I'll try to keep moving forward.

Got to see loads of people I haven't seen in the flesh in months so another plus. So just a few of the pieces I took photos of...terrible photos
First up, Gabrielle Moore, I love her ability to draw me into a sense of security and comfort, only for me to realize, well damn, that's barb wire...that's clearly not safe, but if I could lay in it without well hurting my self I totally would.
Then her watercolours, playful with bright colours until you realize the gruesome nature of the work.
Karen Birch, with a bunch of miniatures with varying degrees of intricate details...yes please, I'm sold. I'm probably a bit bias here but yea I don't care, I like what I like. Tiny canvases of insects, magnified views, showcasing fine details in bold and vibrant colours, so yea I liked the gold series.
Bold and vibrant colours, acrylics and oils, expressive, abstracted and contorted portraiture: Jadisa Andwele, Akilah Watts, Alanis Forde and Anna Gibson. I've always admired when people can capture human likeness.
Onto to the next set of bias...ink, linework details...yes. The works of Yasmin Harper and Simone Asia.
Simone:
Kia Redman with her short films and animation, a mix of playful visuals and sounds. A balloon trees foray into 'paradise' and an array of animated common scenes collaged with sound and colour. She also had some of the stills from her videos.
Some other works, since as stated I pretty much forgot to take photos *cough*, i'll try to remember that next time...
